  When my cardioligist retired Dr Portz was recommended to me by both that doctor and a dear friend who has been treated by Dr Portz for years. He reviewed me records in detail, going back as far as 1992, asked me numerous questions about past procedures, life style, family and ordered tests. Later when I experienced some difficulty I went into see him on his final day before leaving for vacation. He made room for me to see him and instantly called another cardiologist in his group he trusted and asked him to perform a heart catherization, insisting it needed to be done as quickly as possible. As a result of his direct intervention I was in the hospital and had the procedure performed in 4 days which resulted in a 4th stent being implanted into my heart. Dr Protz's office (we used to say bedside) manner is as good as any I've ever experienced in 76 years of life, in fact in the top 1% of all the many doctors I have had, or seen in that time! He is thorough, pleasant and empathic to each patient!
